FAQ¶
Does ScamShield read all of my text messages?
On your phone, yes — that's how it screens for scams. By default the message text never leaves your device. See Privacy & Data.
Does ScamShield need an internet connection?
Mostly no. Most messages are screened entirely on-device, offline. A small number of ambiguous messages get a cloud double-check, which needs an internet connection — if you're offline, ScamShield falls back to its on-device result.
Will ScamShield remove scam texts from my Messages app?
No. ScamShield runs alongside your default Messages app — it doesn't replace it or remove messages from it. Flagged messages are additionally listed in ScamShield's own Scam Inbox, and you'll get an alert.
What if ScamShield gets it wrong?
Open the Scam Inbox, press and hold the message, and tap Not a scam. This corrects the entry locally and sends a small correction signal (no message text) to help improve future detection.
What languages does ScamShield support?
Nepali (Devanagari script), English, and Romanised Nepali.
I didn't grant SMS permission during setup — can I turn on full protection later?
Yes — grant the Read SMS permission for ScamShield from your phone's Settings → Apps → ScamShield → Permissions. Without it, ScamShield can't screen incoming messages automatically.
Is ScamShield free?
Yes, the core protection is free. (Full-text cloud analysis, if introduced, will be an opt-in premium feature.)
I'm a closed beta tester — how do I report a bug or give feedback?
Use the feedback channel shared with you by the ScamShield team when you were invited to the beta.
