User Guide

Home screen

The Home screen gives you an at-a-glance summary of your protection status.

Protection status

  • ðŸŸĒ Active — "Monitoring your incoming SMS" — SMS permission is granted and ScamShield is screening messages
  • 🟠 Limited — "Grant SMS permission for full protection" — shown if SMS permission hasn't been granted

Stats

Three running totals:

  • Total Scanned — every message ScamShield has screened
  • Scams Blocked — messages flagged as Scam
  • Suspicious — messages flagged as Suspicious

Recent Threats

The three most recently flagged messages, each showing:

  • The sender, shown as a partial hash (e.g. â€Ķa1b2c3d4) — never the real phone number
  • The confidence score and the time it was received
  • A SCAM (red) or SUSPICIOUS (amber) badge

Tap View all → to open the full Scam Inbox. If nothing has been flagged yet, you'll see "✅ No threats detected."

ScamShield alerts you the moment it flags a message.

Tap View (on a Scam alert) or Review (on a Suspicious alert) to jump straight to that message in your Scam Inbox.

Scam Inbox

The Scam Inbox lists every flagged message, grouped by date.

Each entry shows:

  • The sender, partially hidden (e.g. â€Ķa1b2c3d4)
  • A confidence badge:

    Badge color Confidence
    ðŸ”ī Red 90% or higher
    🟠 Amber 70%–89%
ðŸŸĒ Green Below 70% (but still flagged)
⚩ Gray (—) Not yet scored
  • The time the message was received

  • Any links found in the message, highlighted in red

If nothing has been flagged, you'll see:

🎉 No scams caught yet

Incoming SMS will be screened automatically

Reviewing a flagged message

Press and hold any entry to open its actions menu:

  • Not a scam — corrects ScamShield's call. You'll see a confirmation: "Thanks! This helps improve ScamShield." This sends a small correction (just the message ID and the corrected label — never the message text) to help improve future detection.
  • Delete — removes the entry from your Scam Inbox.

Tip

Flagged messages are kept on your device for up to 90 days and then removed automatically.
