Getting Started

Requirements

  • An Android phone running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or newer
  • SMS permission, so ScamShield can screen incoming messages
  • An internet connection for occasional cloud double-checks (optional — see How It Works)

Installing ScamShield Nepal

ScamShield Nepal is currently in closed beta. If you've been invited to test the app, you'll receive an install link from the ScamShield team (Play Store internal testing or a direct APK). Install it like any other Android app.

First-time setup

The first time you open ScamShield, it walks you through three short screens.

1. Welcome

🛡️ Stop Scam SMS in Nepal

ScamShield screens your messages in real time. Your messages never leave your phone by default.

Tap Get Started to continue.

2. Enable Protection

ScamShield asks for two permissions:

Permission What it's for
Read SMS Lets ScamShield screen incoming text messages for scams
Notifications Lets ScamShield alert you when it blocks or flags a message

When you tap to allow SMS access, a system dialog appears — choose Allow there as well.

If you decline, ScamShield explains that automatic screening won't work, and offers Continue without (manual report mode). We recommend granting SMS access for full protection.

3. Choose your language

Pick the language(s) your text messages usually arrive in:

  • नेपाली (Nepali)
  • English
  • Both

This screen also shows a live example of what ScamShield catches — a fake eSewa "KYC verification" message, automatically flagged as 97% Scam and marked BLOCKED:

eSewa: Your account needs immediate KYC verification. Click: http://esewa-kyc-verify.xyz/update Account suspended in 2 hours if not verified.

Once you've made a selection, setup is complete and ScamShield opens to your Scam Inbox, ready to start screening messages.
